Over the past few years, various changes have led to an erosion in how businesses communicate and create opportunities. Leading that unfortunate change are two fundamental things.

The first is chat tools like Slack, which mostly undermine the advantages of async communication due to constant distraction, and lose important context to history. The second is spam filtering that pretty much neutralizes email as a vehicle for opportunity creation of various kinds because of lost trust due to AI. Both are meaningfully reducing how effective this open technology of email is at work.

I’ve felt sad witnessing this incredible tool become a channel for AI slop, while meaningful collaboration struggles due to misalignment with organizational goals in chat tools like Slack. It can be better, it once was better, and it’s going to take making new investments in communication tools in order to restore email’s place as the best work communication tool there is.

Today's launch

Today, we’re reintroducing ourselves. Convictional is using modern technology, including homegrown narrow machine learning models, commercial language models, and just good old fashioned design, to create a product for work collaboration that’s going to solve goal alignment in organizations for good.

We are starting with email and meetings, the places where remote teams collaborate, make decisions and align on the work of the company. To fulfill our mission to solve goal alignment within companies, we will be building virtual environments where teammates naturally collaborate, build new knowledge and make decisions to move the business forward.

We are building upon the email experience with tools to collaborate, delegate work, and align to company goals. We’ll be optimizing the elite knowledge worker’s scarce resource: their focus, creativity and judgment. We’ll be applying our years-long research efforts in decision science to promote better and faster business decisions within our customers’ business.

We’re not going to create features that encourage more AI slop and misaligned out of context collaboration at work. This would only serve to accelerate the decline in relevance of this useful technology, and ultimately harm organizations. Our features are going to increase organizational trust, decision quality, and overall how aligned your organization is to your goals. And at the heart of it is a new kind of collaborative inbox experience and meeting tool that we’re introducing today.
