Four Day Workweek
Updated August 5, 2025
What
Convictional made the decision in late June 2025 to implement a four day work week for all permanent full-time employees, subject to the company’s ability to maintain its productivity levels and continue to meet client needs/ demands.
Effective June 20, 2025, our regular working days and hours will be Monday to Thursday from 9am-5pm for a total of 8 hours per day. These hours are subject to variations in time zone to account for your state/province of work and a rotational obligation to provide on call support on Fridays as described in further detail below.
Why
The only thing that matters for knowledge-based ventures like ours is to maximize our creative and intellectual output. Like athletes, we have to practice like we play. We need time to recover, we need time to develop ourselves, we need time to keep up with the incredibly fast progress of AI. If we burn out intellectually even a little bit, our edge gets dull, and we cannot afford that in the age of AI. Parkinson's law is absolutely true of white collar knowledge work. You really can simply expand or contract the amount of capacity in an organization, and given a few months, the organization adapts. Hours should be set by what is optimal for humans and the knowledge work they do, even more so in light of AI, rather than set by historical norms or other superstitions.

Compensation
For the balance of 2025, Convictional will continue to pay you your base salary at 100% even though we are reducing your weekly hours expectations to 32 per week from 40 per week.
Convictional reserves the right to make adjustments to either your compensation or expected hours of work in January 2026 if the four day work week proves to be unsuccessful or to negatively impact our business.
The ability to work a four day work week is a benefit and a privilege. Convictional expects that you will continue to work additional hours, from time to time, as needed in order to meet deadlines.
